2003 Mercury 40HP Outboard Motor Four Stroke 20″ Shaft
This outboard motor has four cylinders, is fuel injected, and is a four-stroke engine with power trim and tilt. These small Merc 4-cylinder motors produce nearly 50 horsepower and provide excellent low-end torque. They are quite fuel efficient and are regarded as extremely dependable.

The motor was purchased from a local source. It was brought in as a trade-in for a newer Yamaha F70 four-stroke engine. It has only 271 hours on it, and it came off a pontoon boat.

The compression on all cylinders was between 180 and 185.

It starts up immediately, pumps water well, shifts smoothly, and sounds great when you hit the throttle.

The motor looks great from a cosmetic standpoint. It arrived faded from the sun, so we used two-stage epoxy on it and put on new decals. The powerhead is clean, and the motor is in such good condition that the next owner will be proud to own it.
