The Thuraya MNB-01 MarineStar Maritime Voice and Data Terminal is a robust satellite communication system primarily designed for affordable voice, tracking, and monitoring services on vessels, particularly smaller fishing boats. It provides circuit-switched voice communication and basic GmPRS data services.

General Specifications :

• Services : Circuit-switched voice calls, SMS (up to 160 characters), and GmPRS data (via an external interface).
• Data Speeds : GmPRS provides speeds of up to 60 kbps (download) and 15 kbps (upload). Note that it does not support circuit-switched data service (CSD).
• Interfaces : Includes a variety of physical ports for integration with third-party devices :
  • RJ-11 port for connecting an analog phone or PBX (Private Branch Exchange).
  • RS-232 serial port for managing GmPRS sessions or connecting other devices.
  • GPIO port (2 inputs, 2 outputs) for sensor monitoring or triggering operations.
